America’s stars are not afraid to take a public stand in the US election campaign. At an event in her hometown, singer Lizzo supports Democrat Kamala Harris.
The singer and rapper Lizzo (“Truth Hurts”) is campaigning for Democrat Kamala Harris in the US presidential election campaign. “I’m proud to say that I voted. I voted early and I voted for Kamala Harris,” said the 36-year-old at a Harris campaign event in Detroit in the battleground state of Michigan.
Lizzo is from Detroit herself. “If you ask me if America is ready for its first female president, all I can say is it’s about damn time,” Lizzo continued. If Harris wins the election on November 5th, the entire country will be like Detroit – “proud like Detroit, resilient like Detroit.”
Stars position themselves in the election campaign
Numerous superstars have recently taken a clear stand and supported the Democrat Harris – these include singers such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Beyoncé, music legend Bruce Springsteen and actor George Clooney. US musician Usher later wants to perform with Harris in Atlanta in the highly competitive state of Georgia. Trump is supported by rock rapper Kid Rock and rapper Kanye West, among others.
Harris warns of Trump: “increasingly unstable”
Harris herself answered a few questions from the press before her appearance in Detroit – and, among other things, commented on her Republican rival Donald Trump. “Donald Trump has proven himself increasingly unstable and unsuitable,” she warned. “I think the American people are seeing this in real time, and we need to acknowledge that this is a person who wants to be president of the United States.” A short time later on stage, she again made fun of Trump’s campaign appearances. “He talks all the time about himself and about mythical figures, not about working people, not about you.”
