Politician Cem Özdemir wants to become the Green Party’s top candidate in the state elections in Baden-Württemberg and thus succeed Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann.
76-year-old Winfried Kretschmann, the first and so far only Prime Minister of the Green Party, no longer wants to run in the next state election. Özdemir has long been considered the preferred top candidate of the Baden-Württemberg Greens. The 58-year-old was born in Baden-Württemberg and won the direct mandate in Stuttgart in the last federal election.
