A good ten days before the US election campaign, Harris and Trump are neck and neck in the polls. The Democrat is receiving new prominent support from the music industry.
US pop star Beyoncé supported Kamala Harris in the election campaign for the White House. The current US Vice President stood up for what the US needed right now: “Unity,” said the musician during an appearance at a campaign event in her hometown of Houston, Texas. She emphasized that she was not speaking as a celebrity or politician, but as a mother who wanted a better future for her children.
Beyoncé performed with singer Kelly Rowland, with whom she was once in the band Destiny’s Child. Rowland said she had already cast her vote for Harris.
During the appearance in Houston, Harris focused on abortion rights, which have become a key issue for Democrats in the election campaign. Texas is among the states that introduced tough abortion bans. Several women spoke before Harris who, because of the bans, did not receive appropriate medical treatment for acute problems during pregnancy.
According to polls, it is certain that Donald Trump will win the presidential election on November 5th in Texas and thus get the votes of the state’s 40 electors. However, Democrats still have hopes of winning Republican Ted Cruz’s Senate seat.
