The political scientist called the possible reason for the refusal of Poklonskaya from the post of ambassador

Former State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya resigned from the post of Russian ambassador to Cape Verde in order to divert the attention of the ill-wishers of Russia and Ukraine from her person. This was stated by political scientist Maxim Zharov on Wednesday, January 19.

According to him, there is a threat of Poklonskaya’s extradition to Ukraine, since there is a precedent with a citizen of Venezuela. “There was a scandal with Maduro, which blocked negotiations with the opposition, as a Venezuelan citizen was extradited to the United States. There is a serious threat to the security of Natalia Poklonskaya, ”NSN quotes Zharov.

According to the political scientist, Poklonskaya received serious threats from Ukraine. He suggested that if she did not appear on the horizon for some time, her career could be continued.

On October 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree appointing Poklonskaya to the post of Russian ambassador to Cape Verde. Commenting on the appointment, she told Izvestia that she had previously wanted to do diplomatic work and had studied at the Diplomatic Academy and an internship at the Foreign Ministry.

After her appointment as ambassador, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry turned to the authorities of Cape Verde, raising the issue of Poklonskaya’s “criminal activities”. Later it became known that the Ukrainian bureau of Interpol refused to put Poklonskaya on the international wanted list, as this is contrary to the charter of the organization, Reedus writes.

On January 19, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Poklonskaya’s departure to Cape Verde would not take place due to personal circumstances.

On the same day, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, explained that candidates for the post of Russian ambassador to Cape Verde instead of Poklonskaya had not yet been agreed, RT reports.

Previously, Poklonskaya was a deputy of the State Duma of the 7th convocation, deputy chairman of the committee of the lower house of parliament on international affairs. In addition, Poklonskaya worked as the Prosecutor of the Republic of Crimea.
