US Vice Presidents: These deputies stood at the side of the last US presidents

“We did it, Joe!” – we did it, said Kamala Harris happily in November 2020. She, the hopeful, as Vice President alongside Joe Biden, who wanted to calm the country after a stormy Trump presidency. The now 59-year-old is the first black woman to hold this position; the expectations from all sides were overwhelming; so does sexism.

For four years she was mostly in Biden’s shadow. With immigration and criminal justice reform, she has been responsible for particularly ungrateful areas that are unlikely to win elections. She often stayed in the background and although she is known across the country, hardly anyone knows what she stands for. She only became the possible savior of the hour after Biden’s miserable TV debate. Suddenly the Democrats were desperately looking for a possible successor – and Harris was there. Millions of US dollars in campaign donations are tied to the double ticket, which Harris is likely to use in contrast to other candidates. So far, however, Biden remains in his post – and so does Harris
