US presidential election: Republican Schwarzenegger supports Harris in the US election

Hollywood star and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, traditionally a Republican, wants to vote for Democrat Kamala Harris in the US presidential election. The 77-year-old wrote on the platform X (formerly Twitter) that he currently doesn’t like any party in the USA. But he will now support Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz. Harris was district attorney in San Francisco during Schwarzenegger’s term as governor (2003-2011).

In the post, Schwarzenegger sharply criticized the Republican and former President Donald Trump. It is un-American not to recognize the results of an election and to describe America as a “dustbin for the world.” Schwarzenegger emphasized that he is an American first, before his political views as a Republican.

A candidate like Trump, who calls on his supporters to storm the Capitol and who will only respect the votes of Americans if they are for him, cannot solve any problems, wrote Schwarzenegger.

The Austrian-born, Californian by choice and “Terminator” star appealed to Americans to overcome the division in the country after the storming of the Capitol in Washington in January 2021 by Trump supporters. Trump attempted a coup “by misleading people with lies,” Schwarzenegger said at the time. “President Trump is a failed leader. He will go down in history as the worst president of all time.”
