Donald Trump is portraying himself as a garbage man in the US election campaign

This truck is in honor of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” Trump said from the cab of the truck about Biden and US Vice President Harris, who is running for the Democrats against Trump in the election. He wore an orange work vest with reflective stripes, which he later wore at a rally in Green Bay. There he said: “You can’t be president if you hate the American people, and I think they do.”

But while Republicans expressed outrage over Biden’s “garbage” misstep, the anti-Trump group The Lincoln Project shared video from a Trump rally on September 7 in Mosinee, Wisconsin. In it, the Republican former president attacks Harris and then says: “And it’s not her fault, it’s the people who surround her. They’re scum. They’re scum, and they want to destroy our country. They’re absolute trash. ” The AFP news agency was able to verify the authenticity of the video.

With his statement on Tuesday, Biden referred to the fact that a comedian at a Trump rally had referred to the US territory of Puerto Rico as an “island of garbage”. “The only garbage I see out there is his supporters,” Biden said in a video conversation with the organization VotoLatino, which then quickly spread online. “His, his, his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it is un-American,” Biden continued.

The 81-year-old US President, who resigned from his candidacy at the end of July due to his old age, later said on the online service “That’s all I wanted to say.”

The statements caused a stir six days before the presidential election. Trump and his campaign immediately jumped on Biden’s statement. “Terrible, terrible – terrible to say such a thing,” Trump said at a rally in Pennsylvania.

US presidential candidate Kamala Harris distanced herself from Biden’s comments on Wednesday. “Let me be clear: I reject any criticism of people based on who they vote for,” she said, noting that the outgoing incumbent had clarified his statements.
