There has been repeated speculation about the return of former federal and state minister Anne Spiegel to politics. Now the Green politician has a new task in Berlin.
The former Federal Minister for Family Affairs and Rhineland-Palatinate State Minister Anne Spiegel (Greens) joins the non-profit company kritikenchat for young people in need. The 43-year-old told the Dpa news agency that she will start as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the consulting service on November 1st.
According to kritikenchat, Spiegel will complement the management team. “As is usual with a position as COO, Anne Spiegel pursues this full-time within the framework of an employment relationship,” the Berlin-based company told DPA. The “Rhein-Zeitung” (Koblenz) had previously reported on the Green politician’s new job.
Anne Spiegel quickly made a career in politics
After the 2021 federal election, Spiegel, who was born in Leimen (Baden-Württemberg), was appointed Federal Minister for Family Affairs. She resigned from the position in 2022 – she ultimately stumbled over the fact that she had left for a family vacation in France ten days after the flood disaster in the Ahr Valley. Spiegel was previously Rhineland-Palatinate’s family and integration minister from 2016 to 2021, and in 2021 she also took over the state environment ministry. As state environment minister, she was responsible for flood protection.
“With Anne Spiegel we are gaining an extremely experienced manager who has been committed to providing good care for children and young people for many years,” said kritikenchat. According to the company, psychosocial counseling is a nationwide, voluntary and free offer of help for young people in need.
