USA promises further military aid to Ukraine
For Kiev, the USA is the most important ally and arms supplier in defending against Russia’s war of aggression. Military packages are still coming from Washington – but what happens after the US election?
The USA is providing Ukraine with additional military equipment to defend against Russia’s war of aggression. The US Department of Defense announced that the new package is worth around 425 million US dollars (around 392 million euros). It contains, among other things, ammunition for Himars-type rocket launcher systems and for the Nasams-type air defense system as well as artillery ammunition with calibers 155 and 105 millimeters.
The USA is Ukraine’s most important ally and largest arms supplier in its defense against Russia. According to the Pentagon, the US has provided more than $60.4 billion (around €55.7 billion) in military aid to Kiev since the start of the war.
The outcome of the US presidential election in a few days will have a significant impact on whether or not Kiev can still hope for large-scale support from the US in the future. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has threatened not to continue if he wins the election.
