According to a media report, Iran is already planning a new attack on Israel – with larger warheads and regular military forces.
The situation in the Middle East threatens to escalate further: Despite the latest warning from the USA, according to a media report, Iran is planning a new attack on Israel. The counterattack will be “violent and complex,” the US newspaper “The Wall Street Journal” (WSJ) quoted an Egyptian official who was informed of the plans.
A new attack would use missiles with larger warheads than in the previous attack on October 1, the “WSJ” reported, citing Iranian and Arab informants.
In addition to the Revolutionary Guards, the regular armed forces would also be deployed. The latest Israeli attack on Iran left four Iranian soldiers and one civilian dead.
Iran could launch attack from Iraq
“Our military has lost soldiers, so it must respond,” the WSJ quoted an Iranian official as saying. Iran could launch the new attack from Iraq and it will be “much more aggressive than last time.”
According to the WSJ, Iran does not want to influence the US election with its counterattack. The attack will therefore come after Tuesday’s vote but before the inauguration of the future head of state of the United States next January, the Iranian official told the US newspaper.
The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, threatened Iran with serious consequences in the event of a new attack on Israel. “We believe this should be the end of the direct exchange of fire between Israel and Iran,” she said.

Washington warns: Israel cannot continue to be persuaded to show restraint
According to media reports, the government in Washington recently warned Iran against another attack on Israel. If Tehran attacks Israel again as announced, Washington would hardly be able to persuade the government in Jerusalem to show restraint, reported the US news site Axios. The warning represented a rare contact between the two hostile countries, the USA and Iran.
Israel attacked several military installations and the air defense system in Iran on October 26th. This was in response to an attack by Iran with around 200 missiles at the beginning of October. Recently, several senior officials and military officials in Iran said that the Israeli attack would not go unanswered.
