The Chancellor opened the election campaign – too late

On the very day that Trump is re-elected US President, there is a bang in the traffic lights. Why the decision for new elections is right.
It seems like a joke of history if it weren’t so sad: For months, people in Germany discussed whether the federal government was prepared for a second presidency by Donald Trump. And on election day this question was resolved. Not because Donald Trump lost the election, but because this federal government actually no longer exists. The new president’s triumph stands in the greatest possible contrast to the infirmity of the traffic light coalition. She will no longer experience the inauguration of the new president in full possession of her political powers – if at all.
