Zelensky speaks of an “excellent” phone call with Trump
What’s next for US support for Ukraine under Trump? President Zelensky has every reason to be on good terms with the future president.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had an “excellent phone call” with Donald Trump after his victory in the US presidential election. The two agreed to have a “close dialogue” and advance cooperation, Zelenskyj wrote on Platform X. “The strong and steadfast leadership of the USA is essential for the world and a just peace,” Zelenskyj added.
Zelensky was among the first to congratulate Trump on election night.
Ukraine is dependent on US support in its defense against the Russian attackers. There are fears in Kiev that Trump could stop military aid and that the Republican wants to end the war with massive concessions to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
