EU foreign policy chief Borrell for talks in Kyiv
The EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell came to Kyiv for a surprise visit. It is likely to be the Spaniard’s last visit to this post in the Ukrainian capital.
The EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kiev for talks. It was his fifth visit there since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression, Borrell said on the X platform. “EU support for Ukraine has been my personal priority during my term in office and will remain high on the EU agenda.” The visit is also his farewell visit to the post of EU foreign policy representative, said Borrell. The Spaniard’s term of office is expiring.
He was received at the train station by the EU ambassador to Kiev, Katarina Mathernova. A meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is planned later in the day.
