Pushkov urged the United States to stop the supply of weapons to Ukraine

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said on December 21 that the United States should stop supplying Ukraine with weapons.

In addition, in his opinion, Moscow should receive “the necessary security guarantees” that the West does not have “aggressive plans.”

“The United States should stop supplying weapons to Ukraine and convince its allies to do the same, and most importantly, give Russia the necessary security guarantees in order to convince Moscow and Russian citizens that the United States and NATO do not have aggressive plans aimed at further bringing the military bloc closer to Russia’s borders,” — the parliamentarian wrote in Telegram.

Earlier that day in the United States, senators from the Democratic and Republican parties submitted to Congress a bill on the supply of weapons to Ukraine under Lend-Lease.

According to the initiative, US President Joe Biden will be able to conclude a lend-lease agreement with the government of Ukraine and provide military equipment “necessary to protect vulnerable civilians from a Russian military invasion.”

On January 20, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry announced that the country was receiving military assistance from international partners in unprecedented amounts.

The day before, it became known that the UK had delivered several thousand anti-tank missiles to Ukraine in case of a “Russian invasion.” British Undersecretary of Defense James Hippie noted that Ukraine is allegedly facing an “existential threat” from Russia.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that sending British weapons to Ukraine does not help reduce tensions.
