Trump travels to the US capital Washington. There he also returns to where he had lived for four years: to the White House. Here he meets the outgoing President Biden.
Outgoing US President Joe Biden welcomed his successor Donald Trump with a handshake in the White House and promised an orderly transfer of power. The Republican Trump thanked him and spoke of making the transition as smooth as possible. “Politics is hard and in many cases it is not a beautiful world, but today it is a beautiful world,” Trump added.
Trump and Democrat Biden sat in the Oval Office, the US President’s office in the White House. Neither of them answered questions from the press. The press finally left the Oval Office for a one-on-one discussion between the two politicians. Trump had previously met with high-ranking Republicans in the US Congress.
After his victory in the presidential election last week, the 78-year-old Republican Trump is scheduled to be sworn in for a second term on January 20th.
