He also did not become an alien – SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz called for vaccinations again in the series of talks “Brigitte Live”. At the same time, he let it be known that it will not be long before mandatory tests after returning from vacation.
SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz has spoken out in favor of only offering corona tests for a fee in the near future as soon as all citizens have had the opportunity to have a vaccination. “Then it has to be like that,” said the Vice Chancellor on Wednesday evening at the “Brigitte Live” series of talks in the women’s magazine, which like the stern published by the Hamburg publisher Gruner + Jahr.
Scholz wants to explicitly exclude tests in schools and companies from such a regulation. At the same time, the SPD chancellor candidate again campaigned for vaccinations. “You protect yourself and you protect others with it.” Scholz countered any worries about side effects of the vaccination with humor: “I haven’t become an alien either.” He pointed out that millions of people have been vaccinated without serious incidents occurring.
Olaf Scholz speaks on “Brigitte Live” about corona tests
In a one-hour conversation with Brigitte Huber, editor-in-chief, and Meike Dinklage, head of the current affairs department in Berlin, Scholz indicated that the federal government is working on mandatory tests for all those returning to travel: “We are looking for a pragmatic way.” However, there are still legal and practical questions to be answered. Scholz appealed to have a corona test carried out after returning from vacation, even without an initially applicable obligation. “This is doing something good for yourself, colleagues, friends or the regulars’ table.” Infections could be prevented in this way.
In the “Brigitte Live” series of talks, the top candidate for the upcoming federal election of the Greens and the Union had already been guests. You can watch the interviews again here (Annalena Baerbock) and here (Armin Laschet).
