“The increase of the Russian people is our task,” says Vladimir Putin. Now a new law in the country prohibits speaking publicly about voluntary childlessness.
The Russian authorities are afraid of words and symbols. That’s why there have been many brutal verdicts, many strange laws and many confusing stories in recent years.
A young woman from Nizhny Novgorod, for example, had to spend five days in detention because she wore earrings with a rainbow-colored frog in a cafe. Employees of Department E, which is supposed to combat extremism in the secret service, saw it as a symbol of the “international LGBT movement.” Although this does not exist, it is classified as extremist in Russia and is therefore banned.
