Russia is deliberately and systematically destroying Ukraine’s electricity supply. The people in the country now have to prepare for long restrictions in the cold November.
After the massive Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the grid operator Ukrenerho announced hour-long power cuts across the country on Monday. The company said the power would be switched off twice for a longer period of time between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Ukraine warns about too many electrical devices on the grid
The reason is the damage to energy systems caused by the Russian attack. Citizens were asked not to switch on several powerful electrical devices at once. It is not yet known whether there will be restrictions in the following days.
Russia carried out a massive combined attack on Ukraine this morning using drones, rockets and cruise missiles. According to the Ministry of Energy in Kiev, energy facilities were primarily targeted. There were deaths and injuries in several regions. According to Ukrenerho, two company employees also died in the attack.
