Habeck on black-green: There is no taboo

CSU leader Markus Söder repeatedly rejects a coalition with the Greens. The Green Party’s top candidate warns of the consequences – and points to Saxony.
Green Party lead candidate Robert Habeck is not ruling out a black-green coalition after the early federal election. “We prove in many federal states that the Greens and the CDU can govern successfully together,” said Habeck in the ZDF program “What Now?”. There is no taboo with the Greens.
“Democrats shouldn’t do this tabooing that actually only Markus Söder does,” warned Habeck. Where this leads can be seen in Saxony: There, Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer’s (CDU) election campaign against the Greens has now led to “the biggest mess of all”, namely the inability to govern. “That was a mental aberration of the worst degree.”
CSU leader Markus Söder reiterated his rejection of a black-green alliance in the federal government after the Green party conference. “Black-green is not an option for us,” said the Bavarian Prime Minister in the ARD program “Report from Berlin”. A real change of direction is needed in the federal election. Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz (CDU) had also previously said that these Greens would not work.
