A climate protection fund with a volume of 25 billion euros is planned, reports the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”, citing a paper that the Greens want to present on Thursday.
Over a period of ten years, the federal government should support municipalities, for example, in adapting to the consequences of climate change, be it heat or floods. There should be tax incentives or subsidies for homeowners if they arm their houses against heavy rain or floods. Insurance against natural hazards should become standard.
The paper announced by Chancellor candidate Annalena Baerbock on Monday goes back to party leader Robert Habeck and the head of the Bundestag parliamentary group. The German Greens believe they have a good chance of joining the government after the general election at the end of September.
