Sometimes it’s rockets, sometimes it’s combat drones: On the 1,000th day of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the Sumy region in the east also has to mourn new victims.
At least six people were killed in a Russian drone attack on the Sumy region in eastern Ukraine. A combat drone struck a multi-story residential building in the town of Hlukhiv at night, and several floors collapsed due to the explosion pressure, local media reported. At least twelve people were injured, the regional administration announced on the morning of the 1,000th day of the war. More victims were suspected under the rubble.
Just at the weekend, twelve people were killed, including two children, when a Russian missile hit a residential building in Sumy. Over 50 people were injured.
The city and region of Sumy have recently been the target of Russian attacks with rockets, bombs, artillery and drones. The supply route for the Ukrainian troops that have occupied part of the western Russian Kursk region runs through the area.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his army to launch a large-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.
