Benjamin Netanyahu visited the Gaza Strip. There the Israeli Prime Minister again offered ransoms for the remaining 100 hostages – with no prospect of success.
During a short visit to the embattled Gaza Strip, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered the Islamist Hamas hostage-takers five million US dollars (around 4.7 million euros) for the release of each hostage. He also assured them safe passage for them and their families. Anyone who harms the hostages will pay a “high price,” he warned. Under no circumstances will Hamas rule the Gaza Strip in the future, Netanyahu said, according to a statement from his office.
Hostage relatives make serious accusations against Netanyahu
The Islamist Hamas rejected an earlier offer of this kind as a farce. The hostages will only be released if there is an agreement that allows an end to the war and the blockade and the reconstruction of the coastal strip.
About 100 hostages still in the Gaza Strip
Of the approximately 250 people abducted from Israel during the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023, around 100 are still being held in the Gaza Strip, although many of them are no longer expected to be alive. Relatives accuse Netanyahu of preventing an agreement on the release in order to keep the war going and keep himself in power.
