Zelensky calls for reaction to Russian missile strike

Russia’s war against Ukraine is escalating. Both sides fire at each other with powerful rockets. The Ukrainian president insists that international law is on his country’s side.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the international community to respond decisively to the Russian attack with a new medium-range missile. “This is a clear and serious expansion of the scale and brutality of this war, a cynical violation of the UN Charter by Russia,” Zelensky wrote on social networks. “He doesn’t care what China, Brazil, European countries, America and all other countries in the world demand.”

The Kremlin chief had previously confirmed the use of a new medium-range ballistic missile against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro and threatened further strikes. He justified this with attacks by Ukraine on Russian territory, which reportedly used missiles from the USA and Great Britain. Zelensky replied that this was covered by international law as a defense against Russia’s war of aggression. “Our right to self-defense is the same as that of any other nation.”
