Concerned about the fate of the hostages in the Gaza Strip, many Israelis are once again taking to the streets in Tel Aviv and other cities. Relatives fear for the survival of the abductees.
Thousands of people demonstrated again in Israel for the release of the hostages held by Hamas. “To our beloved hostages, if you can hear us, everyone here loves you. Stay strong. Survive,” said Rachel Goldberg-Polin that evening in Tel Aviv. Her son Hersh Goldberg-Polin was kidnapped by the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip and was murdered there around three months ago.
At a nearby rally in the coastal metropolis, hundreds demonstrated again against Israel’s government, which they accused of prolonging the Gaza war for no reason and thereby endangering the lives of the hostages.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu depends for his political survival on his right-wing extremist and ultra-religious coalition partners who are against a deal with Hamas.
In Jerusalem, hundreds again demonstrated for an agreement with the Islamist organization that provides for the release of those kidnapped from Israel on October 7, 2023.
It is estimated that around half of the approximately 100 remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip are still alive.
