The so-called meat grinder on the Ukrainian fronts is causing frightening casualties among the warring parties. It is only unclear whether they are correct at the stated level.
According to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, the Russian armed forces experienced their worst month in November since the start of the war over two and a half years ago. Accordingly, Russia lost 45,720 soldiers killed or wounded, including 2,030 soldiers in one day. According to a daily updated count by the Ukrainian military, Russia’s total losses since the beginning of the war amount to over 742,000 killed and wounded. This information cannot be independently verified.
Just a few weeks ago, Moscow put Kiev’s estimated losses at over 906,000 dead and wounded. This year alone, Kiev has lost more soldiers than in the first two years of the war, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed.
As a rule, the number of victims in such conflicts cannot be independently verified. Neither Moscow nor Kyiv have yet released exact figures for their respective losses.
The New York Times recently reported, citing US military and intelligence sources, that 57,000 Ukrainian soldiers had already died. NATO recently estimated Russian losses at over 600,000 dead and wounded.
Kyiv: Military equipment worth three billion dollars destroyed
The latest Ukrainian tally for alleged Russian losses in November also includes 307 destroyed tanks, nearly 900 infantry fighting vehicles and 884 disabled artillery systems. The total value of the Russian military equipment destroyed last month was over three billion dollars (2.84 billion euros). This information could not be independently verified either.
