Curious self-portrayal in the Gisèle Pelicot case: How criminal lawyer Nadia El Bouroumi uses the Avignon rape trial as a stage for herself.
The defense’s closing arguments began last week in the rape trial against Dominique Pelicot and fifty other defendants. The main defendant has fully confessed to the crimes and the public prosecutor is demanding twenty years in prison for him.
In court, Dominique Pelicot’s lawyer emphasized again that her client acknowledged his guilt and that he was not a liar. The men he contacted knew about the condition of his drugged wife. The majority of defense lawyers for the other accused argue against this: their clients only understood what had happened afterwards, if at all.
