Hezbollah and Israel’s military accuse each other of violating the fragile ceasefire. Now Israel has reacted violently to shelling from Lebanon.
The Israeli Air Force says it has bombed terrorists, dozens of launch pads and pro-Iranian militia facilities in the most serious attacks in Lebanon to date since the ceasefire with Hezbollah came into force. The launch pad from which Hezbollah had fired on Israel for the first time hours earlier was also destroyed. The military’s information could not initially be independently verified. Initially nothing was known about victims in Lebanon.
Are Israel and Hezbollah violating the ceasefire?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the shelling on Monday as a serious violation of the ceasefire that had been in effect for around ten days and announced a decisive response. The army emphasized that the actors in Lebanon must stop Hezbollah’s hostile activities. Israel remains committed to fulfilling the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
Israel and Hezbollah have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire. The Israeli army repeatedly attacked targets from the air and on the ground in Lebanon. Israel spoke of reactions to militia violations of ceasefire provisions.
