Several ministers want to leave the cabinet. The pressure on President Yoon Suk Yeol continues to increase.
According to a media report, several ministers in the cabinet of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol want to resign from their positions. According to reports from the South Korean news agency Yonhap, these include Finance Minister Choi Sang Mok, Education Minister Lee Ju Ho and Justice Minister Park Sung Jae. They therefore want to take responsibility for the behavior of Yoon, who had previously unexpectedly declared martial law and lifted it again hours later after massive political resistance.
The opposition has signed a motion for impeachment proceedings. This will be introduced into the National Assembly on Thursday and will be voted on either Friday or Saturday. The largest opposition party had previously accused the conservative head of state of violating the constitution and called for him to immediately resign from office.
