Future US President: Trump and Macron plan bilateral meeting in Paris

Donald Trump doesn’t just want to visit the rebuilt Notre Dame Cathedral on his trip to Paris. Another important guest will also be in town.

On the sidelines of the celebrations for the reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral, French President Emmanuel Macron and US President-elect Donald Trump want to meet for bilateral talks. This was announced by the Élysée Palace and the French Embassy in Washington. The meeting is planned for Saturday afternoon in the Élysée Palace. Afterwards, Macron also wants to receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky there.

The visit to France is Trump’s first trip abroad since winning the presidential election in early November. At Macron’s invitation, the Republican will take part in the ceremonial reopening of Notre-Dame Cathedral on Saturday evening. It was initially not known whether Trump would also use his visit to Paris to hold political discussions with other heads of state and government who had traveled there.
