US President-Elect
Time magazine names Donald Trump Person of the Year

The elected US President Donald Trump has been chosen Personality of the Year 2024 by the renowned US magazine “Time”. The reason: his political comeback.

Donald Trump managed to be elected President of the USA twice.

The 78-year-old Republican has also made it onto the cover of the US magazine “Time” twice – as Personality of the Year.

On Thursday, the renowned magazine announced that Trump is “Person of the Year” 2024. The magazine wrote that the 78-year-old Republican made an impressive political comeback in the presidential election on November 5th.

Resistance strategy

The fight against Trump 2.0 has begun. But not on the street

“Since he ran for president in 2015, perhaps no person has changed the course of politics and history as much as Trump.” The right-wing populist is driving an unprecedented political realignment by “reshaping the US presidency and changing America’s role in the world.” The 78-year-old clearly won the presidential election at the beginning of November after an aggressive campaign against his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris.

The right-wing populist was selected by the magazine when he won his first election in 2016. The real estate entrepreneur will begin his second term in office on January 20th after serving in the White House from 2017 to 2021.

“Time” magazine named Donald Trump, Taylor Swift and Adolf Hitler

Once a year since 1927, the magazine has focused primarily on individuals, but also on groups or ideas that have particularly stood out over the past twelve months – positively or negatively – or which have had the greatest influence on the news over the course of the year. Last year the title went to pop singer Taylor Swift, and before that to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Previous people of the year included the Federal Chancellors Konrad Adenauer and Willy Brandt, but also Adolf Hitler.

The magazine wrote that the choice would be a difficult decision in many years. “In 2024 it wasn’t.” Shortly before the Republican’s second term, “everyone – from his most fanatical supporters to his harshest critics – was living in the age of Trump,” according to Time.
