Donald Trump’s political comeback is unprecedented. This means he now secures a special title for himself. Not for the first time. The award ceremony is also celebrated in a special way.
The US “Time” magazine has named President-elect Donald Trump Person of the Year 2024. “Trump’s political rebirth is unprecedented in American history,” the magazine wrote. “Since he ran for president in 2015, perhaps no person has changed the course of politics and history as much as Trump.”
The “Time” editorial team has been honoring the most influential personalities in world affairs since 1927. It’s about the person “who, for better or worse, has had the most influence on the world and the headlines of the past twelve months.” The magazine wrote that the choice would be a difficult decision in many years. “In 2024 it wasn’t.” Shortly before the Republican’s second term, “everyone from his most fanatical supporters to his harshest critics were living in the age of Trump.”
The 78-year-old clearly won the presidential election at the beginning of November against his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris. After his first – at the time still surprising – election victory in 2016, “Time” magazine had already named Trump “Person of the Year”.
This time the award ceremony was celebrated in a special way: Trump rang the bell for the first time at the start of trading on the stock exchange on New York’s Wall Street. The US President-elect was accompanied by his wife Melania, among others.
