Zelenskyj: Without the help of the USA it will be difficult

What if Donald Trump as president stops US support for Kiev? This topic is currently affecting many politicians in Europe. The Ukrainian president is now clear.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has doubts as to whether European partners can help his country win against Russia if the US withdraws. “It is very difficult to support Ukraine without US help and that is exactly what we will discuss with President Trump when he is in the White House,” he said at the EU summit in Brussels.

We must once again count on unity between the USA and Europe. “This is extremely important because we need this unity to achieve peace,” Zelensky added. “I believe only together can the United States and Europe truly stop Putin and save Ukraine.”

Zelenskyj asks for help for school children and families

Specifically, Zelenskyj campaigned for additional air defense systems to protect nuclear power plants and gas storage facilities. This is important for Ukraine, but also for other Europeans, he said. He also urged people to support his country in setting up shelters in schools and helping to provide food for families.

The new EU Council President António Costa promised Zelenskyj that he would provide full support – “now in war, in the future and in peace”. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in particular recently threatened to block further aid decisions with a veto.

The background to the talks in Brussels is the difficult military situation for the Ukrainian armed forces in the east of the country and the scenario that Donald Trump, as US President, could try to pressure Ukraine and Russia into negotiations.
