Economics Minister Habeck is pleased with what is happening in the cabinet now that the FDP is out of government. Lindner joins him in the parade – but with a wink.
Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) has antagonized the FDP chairman, Christian Lindner, with a statement about possible failures by former FDP cabinet members. Habeck had said in a video: “Suddenly it’s happening. There hasn’t been any progress for three years. Now the FDP is no longer in the federal cabinet and surprise what: the decision was made today.”
The Green Party’s top candidate was referring to a cabinet decision on Wednesday that the federal government wants to create the technical possibility of paying out money directly to citizens next year. Initially, only flat-rate payments should be possible, later payments differentiated according to income to subgroups of the population.
The Federal Ministry of Economics said that the Finance Ministry, which was then still run by the FDP, had “very complicated and delayed” the further development of the direct payment mechanism proposed by the Ministry of Economics into a socially and income-differentiated payment.
