Russian drone swarms over Ukraine again

New Russian drone swarms keep flying into the skies of Ukraine. Air defense and the civilian population are faced with major challenges.
The Russian military once again covered Ukraine with swarms of drones late in the evening. The individual groups of combat drones flew in from different directions, as the Ukrinform agency reported. An air alarm was then triggered in several regions because a clear target could not be identified due to the constantly changing flight directions of the drones.
Russia has repeatedly attacked Ukraine with drones and missiles in recent months. Energy infrastructure objects were usually the target of the attacks. With the new tactic of combined drone and missile attacks, the Russian military is trying to overload Ukraine’s air defenses. For this purpose, the Russian side often uses so-called decoy drones – without explosive devices – in order to further confuse the enemy’s air defense system. Valuable ammunition is often wasted shooting these decoys.
Russia has been attacking Ukraine for almost three years now and has now caused severe destruction across the country. The attacks against the energy infrastructure are intended primarily to wear down the civilian population in the middle of winter.
