After the body of a hostage was found in Gaza: son also dead
The Israeli army recently recovered the body of an Arab Israeli in the Gaza Strip and expressed concern about whether his son, who was also kidnapped, was still alive. Now there is certainty.
The 22-year-old son of a man kidnapped from Israel who was recently found dead in the Gaza Strip is also no longer alive. The Israeli army said it had informed the family about this after completing an investigation. The young Arab Israeli was killed in Hamas captivity.
Israel’s military announced the discovery of the 53-year-old father’s body on Wednesday and said that discoveries related to his son raised “serious concerns” about whether he was still alive. Until then, it was assumed in Israel that both were still alive.
The men, who belong to a Bedouin community, were abducted to the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023 during the Hamas massacre. According to the army, both were alive at the time of the hostage-taking.
Two of the 53-year-old’s other children were also kidnapped at the time. The teenagers were released in November 2023 as part of an agreement between Hamas and Israel. The four worked in a kibbutz near the Gaza border during the terrorist attack.
According to the army, the remains of the two men were recovered from a tunnel in the area of the city of Rafah in the southern Palestinian territory and brought back to Israel.
