Around 600 members of the Sahra Wagenknecht alliance get in the mood for the election campaign at the federal party conference. Some sounds are sharp.
Co-party leader Amira Mohamed Ali has prepared the Sahra Wagenknecht alliance for the election campaign with sharp attacks against the other parties in the Bundestag. “It cannot be overlooked that they hate us, and that’s a good thing,” said Mohamed Ali at the federal party conference with around 600 BSW members in Bonn. “Because we hold up a mirror to them. We expose their failures and we show them how things can be better.” She strictly differentiated herself from the AfD. “They particularly hate us,” said the BSW boss.
Mohamed Ali also attacked the media. “Of course people are trying to write us down now, because we are in fact a real danger to the political mainstream. Large parts of the media do not report objectively, but rather campaign more or less openly for the CDU/CSU, SPD, FDP and the Greens.” They prefer a strong AfD to a strong BSW.
In the debate about the election program, party vice-president Shervin Haghsheno mentioned the “existential question” of war and peace, both with regard to Ukraine and Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. There is an “armament spiral going on,” said Haghsheno. The answer is a return to détente policy. “With the BSW you can vote for peace in Germany and in Europe,” said the deputy party leader. In addition, the BSW is concerned with prosperity and fair participation.
Haghsheno accused other parties of authoritarian tendencies and of a de facto restriction of freedom of expression and other fundamental rights during the corona pandemic. The greatest danger is not left-wing or right-wing populists or AfD voters, but “overreaching politicians,” said Haghsheno.
