There are increasing signs of a possible ceasefire in the Gaza war. This could also ease the situation in the West Bank. But it doesn’t look like it yet.
Six people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in the northern West Bank city of Jenin, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah. There were also three injuries. Nothing was initially known about the identities of the victims.
The Israeli army confirmed the drone attack as part of an anti-terrorism operation, the Times of Israel reported. No further details were initially provided. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that the drone fired three rockets at a group of people.
Jenin is considered a stronghold of militant Palestinians. The already tense situation in the occupied West Bank has become significantly worse since the Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023 and the Gaza war that it triggered. Since then, according to the Ministry of Health in Ramallah, 810 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations and armed clashes there.
