The police are investigating in connection with an AfD election campaign. When asked, a spokesman for the federal government advises public outrage.
The federal government has described an AfD election campaign with a “deportation ticket” as tasteless. When asked by journalists in Berlin, government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit pointed out that the government was holding back on assessments in the current election campaign. In this case, however, he disregards the fact that “something like that is of course in bad taste”. Security authorities or law enforcement authorities would have to take care of everything else. “It’s up to everyone to be publicly outraged about it, I advise it,” he added.
Investigations on suspicion of sedition
The police are investigating on suspicion of sedition. The reason was a tip that a “deportation ticket” had been posted on social media, it was said. The flyers, which look like airline tickets, are aimed at “illegal immigrants”. The departure date is dated the day of the federal election on February 23rd for the trip: “From: Germany – To: Safe country of origin”. When asked, a spokesman for the AfD regional association in Baden-Württemberg said that it was an election campaign by the Karlsruhe district association. The Karlsruhe AfD member of the Bundestag and deputy AfD state chairman Marc Bernhard pointed out the campaign on his social media channels.
The election advertising flyer is currently being distributed in Karlsruhe in as large a number as possible and without any special requirements or restrictions, writes the Karlsruhe district association on its homepage. According to the Left, the flyers were put in the mailboxes of people with a migrant background.
