Donald Trump takes office as US President on Monday. Now he has published an official photo. It is similar to his famous “Mugshot”.
Donald Trump apparently has a pretty weird sense of humor – or perhaps he deliberately wants to polarize with his new photo: His new official portrait in the White House is very similar to his police photo from August 2023. The US President-elect’s team took the picture for Trump second term in office before the 78-year-old is sworn in on Monday (January 20).
Donald Trump’s smile is gone
In the portrait of his first term in office (from 2017 to 2021), Donald Trump was still smiling broadly. The new photo, on the other hand, shows him staring into the camera with an icy look. His facial expression is similar to that on his “mugshot”; instead of the police logo in the upper left corner, his portrait shows the red and white stripes of the American flag.

Donald Trump is the first former or current President of the United States to have a mugshot. The picture was taken after a Georgia court filed charges against him and 18 other people. The accusation: alleged attempts to manipulate the 2020 election results.
Only the tie is a different color
In the “Mugshot,” Donald Trump wore a white shirt and red tie combined with a dark blue suit jacket. In his new official portrait, he wears a blue tie with a white shirt and a dark blue jacket.
This Official portrait of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump is a BADASS!

Many users on social media are sure: The similarity between the official portrait of Donald Trump and the police photo – which is already available for purchase on shirts and coffee cups – cannot be a coincidence: “Trump has 100 percent for his picture at the inauguration “recreated the pose of his police photo,” for example. Elsewhere, the short message service mocked: “Trump liked his mugshot so much that he used something similar for his official presidential portrait.”
