Political nobility from the USA, foreign guests of honor and the richest men in the world: these were the illustrious guests at Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Foreign presidents and heads of state normally stay away from the inauguration of the American president because the security concerns at the event are too great. This year, however, Donald Trump’s office sent out several invitations to other heads of state – especially apparently to those who share Trump’s worldview. Argentina’s President Javier Milei was a guest, as was Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The British right-wing populist Nigel Farage and AfD leader Tino Chrupalla were also expected, while Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen were said not to have been invited.
Trump, who was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, was celebrated by his entire family – and several tech greats from Silicon Valley also came to pay homage to the new president: including Tesla boss and “First Buddy” Elon Musk, meta boss Mark Zuckerberg, Amazon founder and Google CEO Sundar Pichai were spotted at the event.
