Trump dances – even with a stranger

The tradition at the inauguration of a new US president includes festive balls – and several dances. Donald Trump and his wife Melania didn’t find it easy at first.
It may have lacked elegance, but they had fun: Donald Trump and his wife Melania did the traditional opening dance at a ball for the inauguration of the new US president. In front of hundreds of enthusiastic military personnel, the Trumps – he in a tuxedo, she in a white and black evening dress – moved rather reservedly across the dance floor at the first of three balls in the evening. Their faces looked a bit tense.
After a few minutes, Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha were joined on stage by four members of the armed forces who invited people to dance. The change of dance partners visibly relaxed Trump and Melania: Trump then shook the hand of the lady at his side appreciatively, while Melania was spun around her own axis by her dance partner and grinned broadly.
The US President was finally in his element when the Village People’s often used campaign song “YMCA” was played. Trump showed his now famous dance-like arm movements – briefly even together with Melania – and appeared detached. At times he also performed the dance with a saber handed to him.
