Since Kevin Kühnert withdrew from politics, things have become quiet around him. Now SPD leader Lars Klingbeil is giving an update on how his party colleague is doing.
SPD leader Lars Klingbeil is in contact with former SPD general secretary Kevin Kühnert and also discusses politics with him. “We had a bit of an exchange yesterday about the results of the US elections and you can tell that he is still highly political,” said Klingbeil when asked about Kühnert’s well-being at a campaign event in Wismar.
“Kevin is – they always say – doing according to the circumstances,” said Klingbeil, who says he is friends with Kühnert. According to his impression, he is doing “sensibly”. “And I also make sure that things continue to go well, regardless of whether there is election campaign stress or not.”
Kühnert surprisingly withdrew from politics and resigned from office in October last year. He is also not running in the federal election. “I can’t grow beyond myself at the moment because unfortunately I’m not healthy,” he said at the time.
Kevin Kühnert is working on his health
The 35-year-old wrote in a letter to party members and the public that he would need the energy needed for his office and an election campaign for the foreseeable future in order to get healthy. According to information from the German Press Agency, these are not physical problems, but rather mental ones.
