US President: Trump defends withdrawal of personal protection for Fauci

US President Donald Trump does not see the responsibility for the security of those who have deprived state personal protection. “I can give you a few good numbers of very good security guards. You can hire your own security personnel. You all earn a lot of money,” said Trump at a press conference in North Carolina. Trump, among other things, has withdrawn personal protection through the Secret Service to his former Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo, ex-consultant John Bolton and now also the US immunologist Anthony Fauci. “Fauci has made a lot of money,” Trump pushed.

The question of a journalist whether he sees himself as a responsibility should happen to Fauci or Bolton, Trump said no. Fauci was director of the National Institute for Infectious Diseases for decades and also advised the White House. For the Republicans, Fauci symbolizes the pandemic – and everything that, in her view, went wrong in the fight against Corona. They accuse him of various things – for example, that he had veiled the origin of the virus or had approved too strict measures. Fauci rejects the allegations.

According to US media, Bolton and Pompeo are in sight of Iran-apparently because of measures that she took against Tehran during her term.

Trump again emphasized that personal protection due to the Secret Service was not a privilege for life. The Secret Service is responsible for the protection of senior politicians and not only takes care of the safety of active mandate, but also for some former incumbents.
