Trump: Greenland’s residents want to be with the USA

Trump has been building around Greenland for months. The US President is sure of his cause.

US President Donald Trump assumes that the island of Greenland will join the United States out of freely. He thinks that the Greenland belonging to Denmark will come to terms with the United States, Trump said on board the government machine Air Force One with traveling journalists. In his view, the approximately 55,000 inhabitants want to belong to the United States. He doesn’t really know what claim Denmark has on the island. But it would be a very unfriendly act if Denmark should not allow an agreement between Greenland and the USA.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte B. Eggede had said a few days ago that the future of Greenland was determined by the Greenlanders themselves, not by others. This was also confirmed by the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

Greenland is largely autonomous, but is officially part of the Kingdom of Denmark. The largest island in the earth with its important geopolitical situation in the Arctic has aroused desires at Trump, which Trump has repeatedly underlined in sometimes drastic words. He also did not rule out military and economic compulsion to obtain control over the island.

Trump once again founded his interest in Greenland with the protection of the free world. The United States could guarantee freedom. Trump said that Russian and Chinese ships are currently there. That is not a good situation.
