Denmark wants to fight racism towards Greenlander

Since Trump’s statements about the control of Greenland, a lot has happened in the relationship between Denmark and the Greenlanders. Now a long -lasting problem is addressed.
Denmark wants to campaign more against racism and discrimination against Greenlanders in the country. It is a serious problem that one wanted to fight with twelve concrete initiatives and additional means of 35 million crowns (around 4.7 million euros) by 2028, the Danish said.
“Unfortunately, many Greenlanders living here experience prejudices, racism and discrimination in Denmark. The government wants to deal with this,” said the ministry. The initiatives include the right to a Greenland passport, strengthening the interpreting for GRÖNLANDER in Denmark, help in Greenland and investigations of the Greenlanders have had with racism. In order to underline the ambitions, the ministry’s notification was also published in Grönland.
Extensive autonomy of Greenland in the Kingdom of Denmark
Greenland is largely autonomous, but is officially part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Around 17,000 people who are born in Greenland live in the German neighboring country – this corresponds to almost a third of the people who live on the largest island itself.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed desires with regard to Greenland in the past few weeks. According to Trump, the United States need the area for their “national security” (Read more about this here). Since then, the government in Copenhagen has been strongly under diplomatic pressure to make Greenland concessions. Among other things, she announced billions in investments in the military presence in the north and the abolition of controversial psychological tests for Greenland parents in the country.
