Linke calls for the abolition of noble titles

Barone and counts? No thanks. Left boss Ines Schwerdtner calls for the abolition of all noble titles in Germany. That has a political – and a personal reason.

The left calls for the abolition of all nobility in Germany. “No nobility titles do not fit into the 2025 and should be deleted from passports and official documents,” said the chairwoman Ines Schwerdtner the star. Such titles are “remnants of a time when privileges and power were dependent on birth”. Schwerdtner continued: “A modern democracy that is committed to equality for everyone does not need barons, counts and hereditary caves.”

Left boss competes against AfD noble

The demand is not just a political attack. Because Schwerdtner competes in the Bundestag election as a direct candidate in the constituency of Berlin-Lichtenberg, whom the former left-wing chairman Gesine Loetzsch previously won. However, this does not run again. Schwerdtner’s most dangerous opponent: the AfD vice-leader leader Beatrix von Storch.

Schwerdtner directly calls on the rival: “Beatrix from Storch and the other blue -flowered know -it -all should take off their titles.” The privileges of the nobility have already been abolished in the Weimar Republic: “It is only consistent if we finally dispose of the nobility titles in the trash can of history.”

The left-wing boss refers to the example of Austria: there has been prohibited there since 1919. “If you want a democracy at eye level, you have to put the nobility in the place and make it clear that a Beatrix von Storch is not above all of us,” said Schwerdtner.
