Podcast “important today”: why you should ignore corona deniers

Swaggerers, Corona deniers and vaccination conspirators: Has Corona made people dumber? Psychiatrist Heidi Kastner says “No”. The pandemic has made people’s stupidity more visible.

How stupid can you actually be? Many people are asking themselves that more and more often these days with a view to Corona demos. “Stupidity” is a very malicious assumption. In addition, it cannot be measured directly. Many of the protesters may just be confused or angry or defiant. Or?

The specialist in psychiatry and neurology, Heidi Kastner, has been researching the phenomenon of stupidity for many decades. And she is certain: a certain proportion of these people are simply stupid. So stupid that any discussion with them would be superfluous and nothing else helps more than ignoring them: “If someone now says that nanorobots are shot in during vaccination, then I don’t need to talk to them anymore.” In episode 203 of “Today Important”, Kastner therefore advocates drawing a line and not allowing every opinion to flow into the political decision-making process: “A line must also be drawn where a group becomes so loud that it is social disturbs life in the long term.”

Dream comes true: Eight-year-old brings his own book to the library

“The Adventures of Dillon Helbig’s Christmas”, written by: “Dillon Himself”. This work is probably the most unusual title in a library in the US state of Ohio. Because it was written by eight-year-old Dillon Helbig. He was so proud of his 81-page work that he secretly put it on the shelf during a visit to the local library. Two days later he told his mother about it, who of course wanted the book back so it wouldn’t accidentally end up in the trash. But by that time, library staff had already discovered the book – and actually added it to the inventory. There are now 55 people on the waiting list to read how Dillon decorates a Christmas tree and is then sent through time by a star to the first Thanksgiving and the North Pole. For Dillon, the book became a dream, he said on the US talk show Good Morning America: “Ever since I was five I’ve wanted to take my book to the library because I love libraries and books so much.”
