The CDU asylum vote with the AfD drives people onto the street. Thousands protest in front of the party headquarters in Berlin – and in many other cities.

After the asylum vote in the Bundestag against the CDU, thousands of people went onto the streets. In the dispute over migration policy, the Union had first enforced an application in parliament on Wednesday with the votes of the AfD. On Thursday, many of them took air in front of the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus, the party headquarters of the Christian Democrats in Berlin.

The police estimated the number of participants on around 6000. Posters with inscriptions such as “We are the fire wall”, climate activist Luisa Neubauer gave a speech, the people formed a chain of lights against the cooperation with right parties. “It is inconceivable that the CDU helps its right -wing extremist to political power with its decision,” said co -organizer Carolin Moser. “Instead of incompatibility, the Union Nazis rolls a red carpet from the CDU and FDP have thus made the right -wing extremism of the AfD socially acceptable.”

Demonstrations against the CDU throughout Germany

However, demonstrated was not only in the capital. In Munich, around 7,000 demonstrators came together in front of the CSU party headquarters in Munich, in Münster there were 2,800 people. The police estimates were even higher in Freiburg, which went out of 11,000 participants. There were also protests in Frankfurt, Kiel, Leipzig, Mainz and many other cities. In some cases, top politicians such as the Lower Saxony SPD Prime Minister Stephan Weil in Hanover also participated.
