Young alternative: AfD youth organization dissolves

The young alternative (yes) as a youth organization of the AfD is history – at least in the current form. The association decided at a federal congress in Apolda in Thuringia on March 31, as the head of Berlin, Martin Kohler confirmed. The step was also confirmed by other JA representatives and AfD circles. According to police, around 250 JA members took part in the meeting in Apolda. It was accompanied by protests.

The resolution goes back to a party resolution of the AfD three weeks ago in Riesa. At the request of the AfD tip, the delegates had passed a change in the AfD statute with a necessary two-thirds majority. So far, the AfD statute said: “The young alternative for Germany (yes) is the official youth organization of the alternative for Germany”this is an independent association. In the amendment to the statutes that came into force on April 1st, it says: “The youth organization of the AfD is a legally independent part of the party. The following steps are now planned: All AfD members under the age of 36 are invited from the AfD board to a start-up congress. There, the party growth should give itself a statute (a kind of statute) and set a name for the organization. The federal board had “Patriotic youth” proposed.

The new party youth will be subject to stricter rules: Except for the board members, yes members have not had to be on the AfD so far, accordingly, they were not the official rules of the party with possible regulatory proceedings in the event of misconduct. Only AfD members can belong to the future party youth, with the exception of young people under the age of 16 who cannot yet be a party member. At the latest at the age of 17, their membership ends if they have not become a member of the AfD by then.

According to police, around 1300 people, including union representatives, parties and the initiative, demonstrated against the JA Federal Congress in Apolda “Grandmas against right”.
