US President Donald Trump wants to solve the Middle East conflict by moving the Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to other Arab states. His idea is not so well received.
The foreign ministers of several influential Arab states have rejected a resettlement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. They reacted to a proposal from US President Donald Trump that Egypt and Jordan should take up the Palestinians from Gaza. This could be temporary or long -term, he had recently said and argued that the Gaza strip was literally a demolition fallow.
The Foreign Minister of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates as well as top representatives of the Palestinian Authority and the Arab league now shared the stability of the region and extend the conflict. The rights of the Palestinians should not be violated “whether the settlement activities, designation or the destruction of houses or annexation”, it said. This also applies to the “transfer or the uprooting of Palestinians from their country in any way or under any circumstances and justifications”.

In the past few days, Trump had been optimistic that Egypt and Jordan would follow his proposal. On Saturday he called President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi on Saturday, as the White House then announced. The question of the relocation of Palestinians was not mentioned in the message. Rather, it was said that Al-Sisi had confident that Trump’s leadership could initiate a “golden age of peace in the Middle East”.
According to UN, two million people live in the Gaza strip. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas had already warned of a possible expulsion of the residents of the coastal strip. The United Nations also decidedly rejected this idea.
The Foreign Minister and other top Arab representatives also described the role of the United States as important in efforts to take a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza War. The group “looks forward to working with the Trump government in order to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace in the Middle East”.
